The Proposal

Drafting a book proposal is…what’s the word I’m looking for…challenging. It took me a week to figure out how to create one…ish. I’m still not sure I got it right, but I did get a reply back from the Steve Lobby Agency. Steve Lobby himself wrote me, and while it wasn’t what I wanted to hear, it certainly matched what my own research had told me. Invitation to Lakehurst is too long for a traditional publisher to take on from an unknown writer. That was the bad news. The good news was that instead of telling me Lakehurst was a lost cause, Mr. Lobby recommended I self-publish it, and that the writing was better than most of the proposals they receive.

Next Steps…

I’m researching how to self-publish with Amazon and possibly other agencies. In the meantime, I will continue to seek out anyone who is willing to be an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) Reader for Lakehurst to help me lift it out of the “better than most” category.

Additionally, Laurie and I just finished a final edit of my Young Adult Historical novel, Tinker Taylor and the General’s Eyes. I’m in the final stages of putting the proposal together before sending it off to Steve Lobby and company. I would welcome anyone who’d be willing to be an ARC Reader for it too, and I’m particularly hopeful some of them will be middle and high school age. And of course, above all, I covet your prayers.

May the Lord bless you and yours,

Mike
